Goodbyes are hard.
Today our group is heading back to Bangkok. Hope Church, I will never forget your outstanding team and your generosity! You guys always took the extra step to make our experience only the very best! I will miss every one of you! Farewell Chiang Rai! Our group voted on visiting the Hill Tribe community.
We walked through 4 villages, shopped and explored their farming grounds. What a relaxing experience! Today our team finished up our last clinic day.
Feeling heavy-hearted. I could easily continue on with more clinic day ministries! God willing that will happen one day once I get my degree in medicine. Our team ministered in 8 clinics in various districts. Our total numbers are: Medical Patients - 393 Dental Patients - 87 Reading Glasses - 721 Prescriptions - 1,541 Salvations - 269 After clinic, our group headed over to a Chiang Rai Skywalk!
The Skywalk overlooks the Golden Triangle (Burma, Laos and Thailand borders). I have fallen in love with each CERT member! It's going to be difficult parting from all of you! Every one of you are outstanding and one of a kind!
Let's not say goodbye quite yet, though. We have one more clinic day together and Lord willing, we will end it with a bang! The CERT Team was in the Ko Chang District. Numbers for today are: Medical - 42 Dental -7 Reading Glasses - 75 RX - 178 Salvations - 35 Five brave souls undertook the daunting task of climbing a 207 step staircase, all the while, not knowing what would be at the top! Let me not forget to mention that we were on a time crunch to return with the rest of the group in the market! So we had to hustle it!
When we reached the top I was slightly disappointed at first when I saw just a temple. We climbed a 207 step staircase just to see a temple that is very similar to many others in Thailand. Jair and I began wandering around at the top as we waited for the others to join us. As we meandered around, we thought to ourselves, "Was this really worth it?!" Just as those thoughts were rumbling through our minds, we rounded a bend and were surprised to see a breathtaking landscape! The climb was totally worth it!!! After Clinic today, we were surprised with a trip to Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai Province, northern part of Thailand! This is the cave that the 13 members of the Thai soccer team were trapped for several weeks in 2018.
Unforgettable experience! Today our CERT Team served in the Mae Chai District.
For a little while I got to work with our lovely CERT dental hygienist! The whole process is truly fascinating! Thank you so much Agata for letting me assist and answering all of my questions! Medical - 73 Dental - 9 RX - 286 Reading Glasses - 116 Salvations - 31 Updated: November 16, 2022 - All 8 clinic days, I got to work with Khem, who was one of Hope Church's members. Because of Khem, I learned many new Thai words! There was always action, laughter and charades happening in the glasses corner. Many didn't know English or only a little bit and the other way around with myself and Thai! After each clinic day as we were packing up, Khem would turn to me and say, "Thank you for today and thank you for everything yesterday." I caught onto the pattern of Khem's quote after the first couple days and made it a point to surprise Khem by approaching him first and thanking him. As we were cleaning up, I turned to Khem and said, "Thank you for everything today and thank you for the past days as well." Khem smiled and with a twinkle in his eye, he immediately replied, "THANK YOU for everything today, THANK YOU for the past days and THANK YOU for everything tomorrow and as well as the days to come!!" Numbers for today are: Medical - 50 Dental - 13 RX - 264 Reading Glasses - 133 Salvations -56 |
