Due to rough road conditions, we were unable to bring the bus. Instead, we drove up to the village (which was over an hours driving) in 4 separate cars.

Medical Day #1:
We headed out to a small rural District over an hours drive from where the Medical Camp was located. The streets in some of the villages that we had to pass through were so small that the Medical Bus just barely fit. Even though it was unbearable hot, so many of the village people came seeking for medical attention. As part of the registration process, it was required that the patients had their weight taken. It was extremely saddening to see that majority of the people weight 30 - 40 kilograms. Photo Credit: Golden Jojo We started the day rather slowly since we arrived at the Mission Compound really late in the night.
(Our plane was delayed by approximately 5 hours and the drive from the airport to our destination was roughly 4 hours.) But my companion and I woke to the sound of children outside of our room. Quickly, we got ready and went out. The children in the village wanted to greet us with a special little ceremony. I was really touched by all of their hard work to welcome a complete stranger. So sweet!!!! Photo Credit: Golden Jojo Crawled out of bed at 4:01 a.m.
Believe me though, the sacrifice of sleep was totally worth the effort!! |
